What is The Aligned Shift?
An independent bilingual magazine publishing reflective essays, conversations, and voices on transformation, conscious living, and meaningful community.
Is it a magazine, newsletter, or community?
All three, in layers. The website is the editorial home. The Substack newsletter is the living correspondence. The community is the participatory field around both.
Can I listen to the magazine articles?
For now, only the English versions of the articles are available as audio, via the Play button built into the Substack mobile app. French translations are added manually whenever possible.
What are your submission standards?
We look for original, grounded, real work: written by you, not published elsewhere, relevant to our readership, clear and structured, grounded in lived experience or rigorous insight, free from excessive self-promotion, and respectful, inclusive, and ethically framed.
Please do not send: purely promotional articles, SEO guest posts for link placement, generic self-help listicles, thin thought-leadership pieces, AI-generated or AI-expanded drafts (tools are fine for brainstorming, but the final piece must be yours in voice, structure, and substance), work already published elsewhere, or submissions unrelated to our direction.
How does contributing on Substack work?
If you are invited as a contributor to The Aligned Shift's Substack, you will need a Substack account. When you open a new article in Substack, you can choose where to publish it – your own profile, the publication you contribute to, or both. This gives you control over where your work appears while keeping the editorial home clear.
How often are new pieces published?
The Magazine moves at an intentionally slow pace: expect one to two new pieces per month on average, favoring quality over cadence.
Is the Magazine available in French and English?
Yes. The Aligned Shift exists in both French and English: you can choose to read and receive pieces in the language that resonates most with you. The English magazine is at voices.thealignedshift.media and the French magazine at voix.thealignedshift.media.
What do you do with my email address?
Your email address is only used to send you articles published in the Magazine or the section you signed up for, along with the associated letters. You can unsubscribe at any time, and we never sell or share your data with third parties.
